      تتناول هذه الورقة البحثية إحدى قيم المجتمع اليوناني وهي فضيلة الأمانة نحو الناس والإله، وتحمل معنى الوفاء بالعهد وردُّ أية وديعة أو أموال للشخص المالك، وفق الاتفاق بينهما، وعدم التفكير مطلقًا في الاستحواذ عليها أو سرقتها، تحت أي مبرر، وهذه كانت إحدى قيم المجتمع التي عرضها هيرودوتوس لهدف أخلاقي؛ فعاقبة خيانة الأمانة، أو حتى مجرد التفكير في  سرقتها؛ وخيمة على الشخص، وعلى كل ذريته، كما أن خيانة الأمانة؛ خطيئة تجلب اللعنة على الإنسان، وكل أولاده وأحفاده لعدة أجيال، حتى يندثروا تمامًا، ولا يكون لهم نسل، ولا ذكر، سوى خطيئة جدهم الأول، واللعنة التي أصابتهم، وهذه كانت إحدى القيم والمعتقدات السائدة في  المجتمع اليوناني.

Abstract:
   This research paper deals with one of the values ​​of the Greek society, which is the virtue of justice towards people and God. It bears the meaning of fulfilling the covenant and returning any deposit or money to the owner in accordance with the agreement between them. And never think about acquiring or stealing it under any justification, this was one of the values ​​of society that Herodotus presented for a moral purpose. The consequences of betraying the trust, or even just thinking about stealing it, are disastrous for the person and all his offspring. In addition, betrayal of trust is a sin that brings a curse on man and all his children and grandchildren for several generations until they disappear completely and have no offspring and no mention is made of anything but the sin of their first grandfather and the curse that befell them. This was one of the prevailing values ​​and beliefs in Greek society.
